In recent weeks, migrants have been trying to cross into the United Kingdom via the Channel Tunnel between Coquelles, near Calais, in northern France, and Folkestone, Kent, in the United Kingdom. Several people have died in the attempt.
Two small separate groups gathered in Folkestone earlier in the day to express their point of view over the Calais migrant crisis, with one wing urging the authorities to provide migrants with shelter, food and general "humane" treatment, and the other opposing the "uncontrolled" migration flow which "took over" the country, the newspaper reported, citing the representatives of both sides.
Last month, the UK authorities announced plans to build a 1.2-mile fence around the Channel Tunnel site near Calais, which was widely criticized by Brussels.
The French side of the Channel Tunnel, Calais, is currently home to some 3,000 migrants, mainly from North African countries, living in tents near the transit zone.
