Ankara Committed to National Unity Despite Airstrikes on Kurds in Iraq
MOSCOW (Sputnik) The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was said to have placed 2 tonnes of explosives inside a tractor that erupted at a gendarmerie near the town of Karabulak, according to the online Haberler portal.

Dogubeyazit lies in the eastern Agri Province that borders Iran.

Deadly attacks on security and law enforcement officials have so far mainly concentrated on southern Turkey over the past two weeks.

Ankara launched a two-front campaign against PKK in northern Iraq and the Islamic State jihadist group in northern Syria last week. The campaign led to the termination of Turkey’s two-year ceasefire with the PKK.

At least 260 PKK members were killed in the latest 12-hour airstrikes conducted by Turkish fighter jets.

On Saturday, the Kurdish regional government in Iraq called on PKK to withdraw from its territory to prevent civilian casualties.
