DOHA (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to meet with the former leader of the opposition Syrian National Coalition and the chief of Hamas militant group, among other figures, on his upcoming visit to Qatar, a source in the Russian delegation told journalists on Sunday.
"As part of the visit to Qatar, the minister [Lavrov] is planned to hold bilateral meetings with former head of the Syrian National Coalition Ahmad Khatib and the Chief of the Hamas political bureau Khaled Mashal," the source said.
Lavrov is also planned to meet with counterparts from Kuwait and Oman. A trilateral meeting of Lavrov, US State Secretary John Kerry and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Jubeir is also on the agenda.
