ATHENS (Sputnik) — The agreement on the Iranian nuclear program paves the way for making the Mediterranean region free of nuclear and other kinds of weapons of mass destruction, the coordinator of Greek SYRIZA party’s Department of International Relations and Peace Issues, said Wednesday.

US Can Re-impose Sanctions on Iran ‘in Matter of Days’ - Treasury
"The recent agreement between Iran and the six countries has become a message of hope. Let us remember that two years ago US-led military intervention into Iran with Israel’s help seemed inevitable," Panos Trigazis said at a press conference.

According to Trigazis, the agreement paves the way to a nuclear-free status in the Mediterranean.

The West had long accused Iran of trying to create a nuclear weapon, and imposed sanctions against it.

Last month, Iran and P5+1, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, France and Germany, signed a deal ensuring the safe nature of Tehran’s nuclear program, and lifting the sanctions imposed against it.
