NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — The first-ever agreement between the United States and India to put US satellites into orbit was reached with Antrix Corporation, a commercial arm of the ISRO. The first satellites are expected to be launched with the Indian Astrosat satellite in 2015.
"The Astrosat satellite is slated for launch in September… Some of the micro/nano satellites of the US may also go in [the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle] rocket as piggyback luggage… The contract is to launch all the satellites by the end of 2016," the ISRO official told IANS on condition of anonymity.
In July, the Union Minister of State for the Department of Space, Jitendra Singh, said that 45 satellites from 19 countries had been launched by the ISRO, and Antrix plans to launch 28 foreign satellites from Algeria, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, and the United States in 2015-2017.
