“What Don Cheadle has done here with the spirit of Miles Davis is truly astounding. We are not only witnessing for the first time this part of Miles Davis’ story as it deserves to be told, but also the birth of a major film director who happens to portray the iconic singer in a jaw dropping performance.” SPC’s announcement stated.
The film will be starring Cheadle as Davis, Ewan McGregor, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Keith Stanfield and was selected as this year’s Closing Night selection for the 53rd New York Film Festival on October 11, 2015.
Davis was not a singer, but an American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer who is widely recognized as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
Hopefully the team over at SPC has a chance to watch the film they apparently blindly acquired rights to.
