MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Eight people were killed and 200 others were injured in Kabul when a truck bomb exploded in a residential area early on Friday, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Public Health said.
Earlier, Kabul Police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters as cited by The Guardian that the death toll from the explosion stood at 10.
The Guardian said that the blast targeted an Afghan National Army base, however, according to TOLOnews it occurred in a densely populated residential area on the outskirts of Kabul.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the blast, which targeted an Afghan National Army base, according to The Guardian.

Afghanistan has long been fighting the Taliban movement as well as other insurgent groups that control large swathes of the country.

On Thursday, at least eight people were killed in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of Afghanistan’s Logar province, when a Taliban suicide bomber detonated a truck bomb.
