MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The contract with Slutsky will last until the end of the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers, and stipulates that he can continue to coach at CSKA football club while working with the national team.
In mid-July, Russia’s previous head coach Fabio Capello’s employment contract with the Russian Football Union was cancelled by mutual agreement, following a string of poor performances by the Russian national team.
Slutsky has been the CSKA coach since 2009, leading the team to two Russian Premier League victories, in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons.
