NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — On December 5, 2014, the Indian Navy announced that it had agreed to buy 16 S-70B Seahawk helicopters.
According to media reports, if the deal was successful, India could buy 123 additional aircraft from the company.
"The request of Sikorsky for price escalation was not found acceptable by the Contract Negotiation Committee. The vendor has been informed accordingly," the minister told lawmakers in a written reply.
The Indian Defense Ministry has restarted price negotiations with Sikorsky for the purchase of 16 helicopters for the Indian Navy, Parrikar added.
