MOSCOW (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko — Russia’s relations with the European Union and the United States have deteriorated greatly since 2014. The West accused Russia of meddling in the internal crisis in Ukraine, and imposed several rounds of sanctions against the country. Moscow, in retaliation, imposed a year-long embargo against the food countries that sanctioned it.
Despite the tensions, Moscow and the West are tackling several global issues, such as the crisis in Syria, together.
"On the contrary, I think that all three mentioned parties [Russia, US, EU] must be united in the fight for peacekeeping possible, especially mindful of the danger of radical Islamism, for better economic co-operation, a united fight against poverty, global environmental pollution, etc," Stevanovic said.
