The Russian military believes it found the wreckage of a helicopter that went missing in Russia’s Tuva republic in 2014, the Russian Defense Ministry's press service said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Defense Ministry, a search-and-rescue team is expected to investigate the site of the wreckage.

"The pilots have found a debris of a helicopter on the ground which with a high probability belongs to the Mi-8 helicopter of Tuva Airlines, that went missing on October 10, 2014," the press service said.

The Tuva Airlines Mi-8 helicopter with at least 12 people on board disappeared on October 10, 2014, during a private flight.

An initial search operation was suspended due to severe weather conditions. The search was resumed in the summer.
