NEW YORK (Sputnik) – On August 6, 1945, the US atomic bomb "Little Boy" detonated about 2,000 feet above Hiroshima killing around 140,000 people. Another bomb, "Fat Man" was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on August 9.
"The United States should apologize and should admit that this was a war crime," LaRouche said on Friday, referring to the 1945 bombings which are the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in human history.
According to Zepp LaRouche, the United States needs to fully cooperate with Russia and China in order to prevent any additional nuclear attacks from taking place in the future.
"The only way to even approximate not making this injustice to so many people is to engage in a dialogue with Russia and Сhina to make sure this never happens ever again."
The world marks Hiroshima Day and the International Day of Nuclear Disarmament on August 6.
According to the survey by Populus conducted for Sputnik, some 60 percent of respondents in Japan think Washington should offer an official apology to the victims of the nuclear bombings, while only 11 percent say that an apology is not necessary.
