MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Sky News television channel created several fake profiles online to connect with the militants.
"From the start it became clear that IS wants its recruits to attack the UK and not travel to their so-called caliphate. We can reveal that this is an entirely new tactic by ISIL — originally they called for volunteers to join them in Syria," the Sky News journalist wrote, based on his investigations.
According to the channel, the militants sent guidebooks and urged the fake sympathizers to form gangs and create a British Islamic State.
The Islamic State is an extremist religious group, notorious for its many human rights atrocities, operating in Syria and Iraq. It is said to be one of the most active fundamentalist zealot groups on the Internet, recruiting thousands through social media.
Numerous British citizens have traveled to Syria to join the ISIL ranks since it took over large areas of the country and neighboring Iraq in 2014.
