MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A team of Russian inspectors plans an evaluation visit on Wednesday to Belgian military facilities, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction, Sergey Ryzhkov said.

"In accordance with the Vienna Document of 2011 on measures to strengthen confidence and security, the Russian group of inspectors plans a visit to assess the military facility of the Belgian Armed Forces. On August 12… the evaluation visit to the first air base, located in the city of Beauvechain, will take place," Ryzhkov said.

In accordance with the Vienna Document of 2011, such inspection visits are carried out to verify information about military forces and plans for deployment of major weapons systems and military equipment.

"During the evaluation visit, the inspectors will visit the headquarters of the wing at its normal peacetime location, and at the briefing the command will provide the information about the personnel, as well as about the major weapon and equipment systems," Ryzhkov said.

Pan-European security architecture includes several agreements on disarmament, arms control and confidence-building measures in the military field. In particular, the Vienna Document of 2011, signed between the participating states of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), provides for exchange of information on military forces, on defense planning and military budgets. The OSCE countries also notify each other about certain military activities, inviting observers to come and conduct inspections.

Belgium is one of the founding members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), whose headquarters are located in country's capital Brussels.
