MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The records which include personal details supposedly on US military personnel were revealed by a hacker group which claims to be associated with the ISIL terrorist group, the NBC News reported Tuesday.
"We are aware of the report but cannot confirm credibility at this time. The safety of our service members is always a primary concern," a spokesperson for the Department of Defense was quoted as saying by the NBC News.
The media reported that the released information also included what appears to be several US State Department officials' credit card information and the screen-shots of their private Facebook messages.
The Twitter account used for the leak has since been suspended.
In January, the Twitter and YouTube accounts of the US military command were hacked by the ISIL sympathizers calling themselves CyberCaliphate.
ISIL is a fundamentalist extremist group, notorious for their multiple human rights atrocities, primarily operating in Iraq and Syria.
