MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The first Russian autonomous Concept-M search and research submersible capable of diving to depths of 1,000 meters (approximately 3,280 feet) has been developed and is about to go into mass production, the general director of Tetis Pro said.
“The Concept-M is to replace the Islandic Gavia submersibles that are currently being used by the Russian Defense Ministry for deep-water surveying,” Alexei Kaifadzhyan told RIA Novosti in an interview.
Kaifadzhyan said that the new Concept operates exactly like the Gavia, but the former will be fully produced in Russia with Russian parts.
“It’s already been developed and preparations are currently underway for mass production,” Kaifadzhyan added.
