WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Manned US aircraft launched first airstrikes against the ISIL from an airbase in southern Turkey, according to media reports on Wednesday.
For the first time, the United States launched manned airstrikes from Incirlik airbase under the deal reached by US President Barack Obama and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in July, CNN reported citing the Pentagon.
On August 5, US unmanned drones started conducting reconnaissance and airstrikes.
The airstrikes come after Turkey last month decided to open the airbase to some members of the US-led anti-ISIL campaign.
