"Toronto is such a high-strung city. We thought it could stand to let off a little steam," Battle Sports co-founder Tim Cheung told the Guardian.
Fitted with thick gardening gloves, a paintball mask, and full-body polypropylene coveralls, customers armed with a baseball bat step into the Rage Room prepared to unleash on some dish plates.
"Society prevents us from expressing that anger outward most of the time, so this Rage Room is a cathartic relief for participants," Cheung said in an email to blogTO.
If you destroy your supply of dishes before your time in the room is up, you can order from the à la carte Smash Menu, which offers fragile household items like wine glasses, vases, tea cups, decanters and more.
And if you're interested in recreating a famous scene from the movie "Office Space," in which the characters smash a printer as the song "Still" by the Geto Boys plays, Battle Sports provides a bluetooth speaker for the room.
"You're told all your life not to break things," Cheung told the Guardian. "The Rage Room goes against it. It can’t help but be cathartic."
