The video, which appears to be taken from quite a distance, shows bright flames lighting up the sky and leaving a massive smoke cloud hanging in the air over several surrounding high rise buildings.
The explosion originated from a shipment of explosives at around 11:30 PM local time, CCTV reported, injuring at least 50 people. China's official state run news agency Xinhua quoted residents in nearby districts who reported having their windows shattered as a result of the explosion. According to CCTV America, several of the buildings in the vicinity are out of power, and people in the area are reporting gas leaks.
No deaths have been reported so far, but the number of injuries are increasing as firefighters attempt to battle the flames.
