Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reiterated Friday earlier statements of remorse and apology for Tokyo’s actions during World War II in a speech commemorating the war’s end.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — Earlier media reports suggested that Abe’s speech would include expressions such as "apology" and "aggression" as well as "deep remorse" and "colonial rule."

"Japan has repeatedly expressed the feelings of deep remorse and heartfelt apology for its actions during the war," Abe said, as quoted by the Kyodo news agency.
