ISIL Used Chemical Weapons Against Kurds in Iraq
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The alleged use of chemical weapons by Islamic State radicals in Iraq was their last-resort measure to change the balance of power, Kurdish presidential media adviser, Kifah Mahmoud, told Sputnik on Friday.

Mahmoud added that ISIL positions had been completely eliminated to the south of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, where the most highly-trained terrorists had been based.

"Chemical weapons are always used in the last stages of defeat as the last attempt to change the balance of power. IS [Islamic State] began to use chemical weapons after their ‘terribly trained army’ started rapidly failing on the borders of Kurdistan as a result of continuous defeats," Mahmoud said.
