MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The oil refinery, with a capacity of 200,000 barrels-per-day, was evacuated as a precautionary measure after the fire broke out at 11:30 a.m. local time (08:30 GMT) at a heavy oil unit, KNPC's acting chief executive told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
According to the state agency, no casualties have been reported.
The exact cause of the incident will be determined once KNPC personnel and fire units have contained the fire, KUNA said.
