Members of this "political sect," like Russian President Vladimir Putin, stand against media lies and criticize selfish EU aspirations. They are viewed by some German politicians as depredators shaking the German society, German newspaper Der Tagespiegel wrote.

According to the magazine, German journalist and editor-in-chief of the ‘Compact’ magazine Jürgen Elsässer – one of the main initiators of this oppositional network – supports the PEGIDA movement, plays left-wing politicians into hand and is well-known as a Kremlin propagandist.

German expert Jupp Legrand defines Elsässer’s position in simple words: "People against elites, truth against media lies, for nation and against the EU, against the United States and for Putin".

For a number of German officials Elsässer is a thorn in their side. Thus, for Green Party politician Volker Beck it is more than annoying that even prominent politicians from the leading German parties such as CDU and SPD support this network.

Last year, Compact magazine organized a conference in Berlin called "Peace with Russia. For a sovereign Europe." The event was attended by many prominent representatives of both political parties.

Some of them, such as SPD representative Andreas von Bülow and former Minister of Defense and CDU member Willy Wimmer, are also planning to take part in another Compact conference in October, where they are planning to discuss the hegemonic policy of the US.

Green Politician Beck expressed his dissatisfaction with such a development of the events and claimed that members of the leading German parties should refrain from participation in these events and give up any connections with destructive “political sects”.
