MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The South African Department of Justice and Correctional Services has suspended Friday’s release on parole of Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius, local media reported Wednesday, citing the department’s statement.
Pastroius, who was sentenced to five years in prison for the murder of partner Reeva Steenkamp in October 2014, was given a reprieve by the parole board in June.
The Department of Justice ruled that the decision to release Pistorious was "premature," according to the eNews Channel Africa (eNCA) broadcaster.
