Dutch Navy ship Johan de Witt escorted the Project 636.6 Varshavianka submarine (NATO designation "Advanced Kilo") which is currently being transferred from Russia's Northern Fleet to its Black Sea Fleet, the Dutch ship's commander said on Twitter.
The submarine being transferred was the diesel-electric B-261 Novorossiysk, a stealth submarine which is also exported to Vietnam.

The Dutch Navy ship has since returned to port at Den Helder, Netherlands, according to MarineTraffic.
The Novorossiysk was laid down in 2010 and began sea trials in November 2014. In August it began its journey to the Black Sea where it is to be permanently based.
