“China has extended an invitation for US participation in its WWII commemoration event,” Clay said.
Washington has not yet decided whether to attend the commemoration.
“We will make available information about US participation closer to the event,” Clay said.
On September 3, China will mark 70 years since the surrender of Japan in World War II.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to arrive in Beijing on September 2 to attend a formal dinner hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
