Lebanese PM Salam Vows Justice After Violent Protests in Beirut
Hundreds of activists took to the streets of the Lebanese capital demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Tammam Salam’s cabinet on Sunday, a day after at least 15 protesters were injured in clashes with police amid a spreading garbage crisis.

The activists said they would not stop the protest until the government resigns and the riot police are held accountable for the violence, according to Al Jazeera broadcaster.

Earlier in the day, Tammam Salam said that all the parties responsible for violence against protesters in Lebanon would be brought to justice.

The protests in Beirut broke out after the country’s main landfill had been closed last month. Since then, thousands of tons of garbage have been left uncollected as the officials fail to take measures.
