The drills kicked off near the city of Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East.

On August 25, Russian and Chinese navies will launch an assault together – for the first time in Russia.

The military exercises involve 22 ships, up to 20 planes and helicopters, more than 500 troops and 40 vehicles.

The active phase of sea maneuvers will be conducted on August 23-27.

A representative of the Chinese Defense Ministry emphasized that the drill was not directed against any third party.
