MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US Embassy in Moscow will shortly issue a visa to Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, a spokesperson for the embassy said Tuesday.
The purpose of Matviyenko's visit is to attend the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament at the United Nations New York headquarters, between August 31 and September 2.
"We are in contact with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this particular visa issue and informed them that the visa will be ready by tomorrow," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
On Monday, a source in the Federation Council said that Valentina Matvienko will likely cancel her planned visit to the United States.
