MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Orzechowski said that Monday’s statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk that the Ukrainian government was defending Europe from Russia had nothing to do with truth or reality.
"What is surprising is that there are people in the Ukrainian establishment who tell the Ukrainians tales and, worst of all, start to believe in these tales themselves… Mr. Poroshenko is carried away by Atlantic emotions, lacking any basis, as no one but him shares these emotions. He must realize this and end the war in his home," Orzechowski, a former member of the Polish parliament, said.
In 2014, Kiev launched a military offensive in the country's east against Donbass independence supporters who had refused to recognize a coup-imposed government in the country. According to UN estimates, more than 6,800 people have been killed in the eastern Ukrainian conflict since April 2014.
