BERLIN (Sputnik) — There have been several reports of threats to the party with racist overtones after its Chairman and Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel visited the east German town of Heidenau on Monday.
Heidenau has seen violent clashes between police and Neo-Nazi activists, protesting the arrival of refugees at a newly opened shelter in eastern Germany.
"The [incoming] call took place about 3:30 p.m. local time. An unknown perpetrator informed of an explosive device in the building. All staff and visitors were evacuated, its own [the party’s] security forces inspected the building," the spokesperson stated, adding that police were currently carrying out inspections.
