On the Ukrainian television show “Podrobnosti” Ukrainian media has proclaimed that Google Translator has been helping... no, not interpreters, but the so-called “Putin’s propaganda.”

Once again Ukraine has found who is to blame for all its misfortunes. This time Ukrainian media went as far as to accuse Google of working for the “Kremlin propaganda.”

Such a declaration has been voiced possibly due to the specifics of translation from Ukrainian to Russian. For example, Google translated the term “revolution of dignity” as “political crisis in Ukraine.”

Such nuances in translation which are completely correct in Russian have been taken out of context.

Head of Media Relations of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Markin mocked the surrealistic situation by saying that the Security Service of Ukraine should ask The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to extradite the founder of Google, Sergey Brin, for the so-called “Kremlin propaganda.”

“According to our information, the Security Service will turn to the FBI with a request to extradite US citizen, born in Moscow and founder of Google, Sergey Brin as guilty of ‘Kremlin propaganda’ and ‘humiliation of national dignity.’ Google's assets should also be seized,” Markin posted on his Twitter account.

After the Ghost of Communism terrified Europe for the better part of the 20th century, there is now a new “evil” sneaking up on Europe – the “ghost of Russian propaganda,” Italian news website Globalist.it reported. - Sputnik International

Ghost of 'Russian Propaganda' Tops Europe's List of Things to Fear
In fact, such characteristics of Google Translator are associated with the use of self-learning algorithms that analyze the search engine's index. As a result, the translation depends on the content of news sites, forums and other resources corresponding to current trends.

In some cases, it may not be literal or sometimes it can be completely incorrect and as a rule such errors are corrected as soon as they are published.

Media often publishes lists of funny errors arising from faults in the algorithm. However, this did not prevent the Ukrainian journalists from seeing the involvement or “the hand of the Kremlin” in this situation.
