DONETSK (Sputnik) — A prisoner exchange in "12 for 12" format between Kiev and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine is being prepared for Wednesday night, the military of the Donetsk People's Republic said.
"We have prepared 12 people [for exchange]. They are all Ukrainian servicemen. In exchange, we should receive 12 DPR soldiers," the DPR Defense Ministry told RIA Novosti.
Prisoner swaps is a key provision of the Minsk agreement aimed at bringing peace to Ukraine.
The deal, which also stipulates an all-out ceasefire, a heavy arms withdrawal and decentralization, was hammered out in the Belarusian capital in February by the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany.
