The gunman who killed two journalists during a live broadcast in Virginia has died of his injuries, media report.

The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Vester Lee Flanagan, a former employee of the station, who previously went by the name of Bryce Williams, according to local media. Police chased the car identified as the suspects and found it abandoned near the Roanoke airport. According to Virginia police, the man believed to be the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

"We believe it was a disgruntled employee who fired at the TV crew," Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe told local media.
The governor added that the police know the identity of the suspect and are currently tracking down the shooter.
The station, WDBJ7, confirmed the deaths of the reporter, 24-year-old Alison Parker, and the photographer, 27-year-old Adam Ward.
