VIDEO: Two Seattle Cops Fired After Bus Driver’s Body Cam Proves They Lied

In November 2012, Kelvin Kirkpatrick- a man who has been driving busses for two decades- requested officer assistance to remove homeless people who were sleeping in the vehicle, which is the policy of the bus company.

King County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Lou Caballero went on to file a complaint against Kirkpatrick, claiming that the driver had become belligerent and quoting him as saying “You got three fucking deputies out here that don’t do nothing.”

Another deputy, Amy Shoblom, corroborated Caballero’s claim.

Fortunately, Kirkpatrick was wearing a body camera which captured the exchange.  The officers were not aware that they were being filmed.

“I’m not yelling at you, sergeant. … I’m expressing how frustrated I am at the fact that I’ve got three deputies that don’t do anything when I need help,” Kirkpatrick is actually heard saying.

Termination letters which were posted online explain that Caballero was fired for dishonesty and retaliation, while Shoblom was fired simply for dishonesty.

“I also find it significant that you and Dep. Shoblom spoke following the interaction, and prepared written statements within roughly sixty minutes of one another that are remarkably consistent in tone and content, to the point of misquoting Mr. Kirkpatrick in nearly identical language,” the letter to Caballero read.

An attorney representing both officers has stated that they intend to fight to get their jobs back.

“We are currently conducting a thorough and wide reaching investigation into the Sheriff’s Department’s treatment of Lou,” their attorney Julie Kays told Raw Story. “We look forward to presenting the results of this investigation to a jury.”
