MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A junior student at the Savannah State University (SSU) in the US state of Georgia succumbed to his wounds early on Friday after he was shot on campus by an unidentified gunman, the university said in a statement.
The shooting, which put the campus on lockdown for several hours, took place on Thursday evening. The restrictions have since been lifted, but police are still looking for the suspect. No arrests have been made so far.
"It is with great sadness that we report the loss of a Savannah State University student," SSU said in the statement.
The student, identified by the university as Christopher Starks, a junior from the Atlanta metropolitan area, died at a local hospital. He was the only person injured by the shooter.
