RIGA (Sputnik) – Latvia has turned down Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency's application to register as a media outlet in the country, the Republic of Latvia’s Register of Enterprises said on Friday.
The state register did not provide grounds for the refusal and declined to comment on its decision.
Last month, the British multinational Barclays Bank briefly closed the agency’s accounts in London, later to reclassify them as frozen.
In justifying its decision, Barclays referenced a UK regulation on financial sanctions imposed by the European Union on Rossiya Segodnya General Director Dmitry Kiselev.
