MOSCOW (Sputnik) — One of the biggest banks in the United Kingdom, HSBC, is experiencing technical problems that are preventing customers from receiving their salaries, due to be paid ahead of the weekend, the bank said Friday.
“There has been an issue affecting BACS [UK national payments system] payments by some HSBC customers today,” the bank said on Twitter.
It added that HSBC is “working hard to rectify the issue some customers are experiencing with expected payments today.”
According to a BBC estimation, the IT failure has affected thousands of people. HSBC has over 16.1 million customers in the United Kingdom.
