MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, with whom Ratney held talks, was also seen leaving the building.
Moscow was the first stop in Ratney’s Syrian crisis settlement tour. He is due to travel to Saudi Arabia and Switzerland.
Ratney was appointed to the post of Special Envoy to Syria on July 28.
The special envoy’s trip follows US Secretary John Kerry’s meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir in Doha and Kuala Lumpur earlier in August.
The meeting was closed off to reporters.
