MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Walker is one of more than a dozen candidates in the Republican presidential field. Along with Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton and his GOP presidential rivals, he has been speaking in favor of stricter immigration policy.
"Some people have asked us about that in New Hampshire. They raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks that brought that up to me at one of our town hall meetings about a week and a half ago. So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at," Walker told the NBC News.
The issue was not just about building a wall and securing our borders, but meant to ensure that "our intelligence community has the ability for counter-terrorism," the GOP candidate stressed.
Earlier in August, Walker said that Islamic terrorists were "most likely" to cross into the United States through the Mexican border.
Earlier this month, another GOP Candidate Donald Trump said that the current string of walls at the US-Mexico border was not nearly enough, and proclaimed he would build a US-Mexico border barrier and would name it after himself. When asked about the necessity of a wall on US-Canada border, Trump said that Canada was a "different' issue.
Over a recent decade, an increased number of terror attacks has been registered in Canada. Earlier this year, Canada fortified its anti-terror measures and issued the Anti-terrorism Act, allowing the authorities to share information about individuals easily and expanding the mandate of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).
