MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and Belarus are set to practice field shooting during the tactical military drills, Union Shield 2015, to be held in September in the northwest of Russia, the press service of Russia's Western Military District said Monday.

"A command-staff exercise will take place within the framework of the drills, followed by process-oriented training with field shooting elements," the press service said, adding that Belarus will be sending 28 military units and eight aircraft to participate in the drills.

The drills are scheduled to take place at firing ranges located in Russia's Northwestern Federal District on September 10-16.

According to the press service, over 8,000 servicemen from Russia and Belarus are due to participate in the drill, with more than 400 units of weaponry and military equipment, along with some 80 combat planes and helicopters.
