Moscow (Sputnik) – A conflict between Houthi rebels and Yemeni governmental forces, which started in March, has led to a dire humanitarian situation in the country.
Since the start of the conflict, the ICRC medical organization has been providing vital humanitarian support to around one million people in Aden, the biggest city in southern Yemen under governmental control, according to the ICRC.
The organization temporarily suspended its work in Aden following an attack on the organization’s employees on August 24, however its activities, including the provision of food, water and medical care, are continuing throughout the rest of Yemen, according to the organization.
"We are shocked and appalled by the brutal killing of two of our staff members, earlier today in #Amran. #Yemen," the ICRC wrote on Twitter.
