MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, Putin gave a high assessment of Vietnamese achievements in socioeconomic, science and technology development in a telegram to Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, congratulating him on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of Vietnam’s independence.
He also stressed that the implementation of the agreements reached at a recent meeting between the leaders in Moscow “will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and will help to ensure peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region,” the statement said.
In May, Vietnam signed a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, a bloc aimed at fostering economic integration between its member states, comprising Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
