LUXEMBOURG (Sputnik) — Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced on Wednesday his visit to Russia and Ukraine in the next few weeks.
Luxembourg currently holds presidency of the Council of the European Union.
"I informed the [NATO] Secretary General that I will visit Moscow to meet with President [Vladimir] Putin and Prime Minister [Dmitry] Medvedev in the next few weeks, and I will also visit Ukraine," Bettel said at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
The Luxembourg prime minister said Moscow played an integral part in resolving major international issues.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed earlier on Wednesday that there was a preliminary agreement concerning a meeting between Putin and Bettel but the date had not yet been set.
