The honorary closing position in the Thursday parade was granted to three Russian units, representing the Ground Forces, Air Force and Navy of the Russian Federation.
Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Serbia and Tajikistan have also sent parade formations to Beijing, each consisting of 75 soldiers. Afghanistan, Cambodia, Fiji, Laos, Vanuatu and Venezuela have sent seven soldiers each.

In May, a Victory Day parade was held in Moscow's Red Square to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and the defeat of Nazi Germany. The event was attended by leaders of nearly 30 countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Chinese servicemen took part in the Moscow Victory Day parade.
