"All participants at the Forum probably feel that Russia’s pivot to Asia, which was announced at the 2012 APEC Summit, has been reenergized and is gaining pace," Kawasaki Heavy Industries President Shigeru Murayama said.
The three-day forum kicked off in Russia’s Far East on Thursday. It brought together government officials, business executives and industry experts from Russia and Asia-Pacific countries.
Shigeru, who chairs the board of directors at the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and the Newly Independent States (ROTOBO), told Sputnik that, "Japanese business is aimed at cooperating with Russia in the Far East."
He cited traditional cooperation between the two neighbor countries on energy, adding that tourism was one of the latest investment goals for the Japanese who seek a less crowded alternative to Japan’s northernmost resort island of Hokkaido.
