MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia has secured qualification for Euro 2016 by beating Sweden 1:0 on Saturday.
Artyom Dzyuba scored the only goal on the 37th minute of the game.
Following the victory, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko praised the team's performance.
"Russia is back in the game and that is great," he told reporters.
This was the first game played by the Russian team under new coach Leonid Slutsky, who took the post in early August after Russia’s previous head coach Fabio Capello’s employment contract with the Russian Football Union was cancelled by mutual agreement in July.
