SANAA (Sputnik) — The Saudi-led coalition against the Houthi rebels in Yemen has launched an unprecedented series of airstrikes against the country's capital Sanaa on Sunday, witnesses told Sputnik.
According to the witnesses, the raids targeted several Houthi positions at once in different part of the city, as well as the Sanaa airport.
A military source also told Sputnik that the coalition also bombed the presidential residence.
Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between Houthis, the country’s main opposition faction, and government forces.
In late March, a Saudi-led international coalition began airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen at the request of Yemeni President —in-exile Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
