WARSAW (Sputnik) — The prosecutor's office in Warsaw has launched an inquiry into alleged calls to send refugees from Syria to the former Nazi Auschwitz concentration camp, spokesman for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw said Tuesday.

"The District Prosecutor’s Office for Warszawa-Srodmiescie has launched an inquiry into the public incitement of hatred on the grounds of national, racial and religious differences with regard to refugees from Syria by leaving comments on the TVN24 channel's profile in a social networks under the article 'Conservation of Barracks in Auschwitz,'" Przemyslaw Nowak told reporters.

The racist comments contained an appeal not just to accommodate refugees from Syria in the barracks of the former Nazi death camp, but also to murder them.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said that Poland could take in about 2,200 refugees over two years.
