"The District Prosecutor’s Office for Warszawa-Srodmiescie has launched an inquiry into the public incitement of hatred on the grounds of national, racial and religious differences with regard to refugees from Syria by leaving comments on the TVN24 channel's profile in a social networks under the article 'Conservation of Barracks in Auschwitz,'" Przemyslaw Nowak told reporters.
The racist comments contained an appeal not just to accommodate refugees from Syria in the barracks of the former Nazi death camp, but also to murder them.
According to the EU external border protection agency, Frontex, the number of refugees detected at EU borders between January and July 2015 stands at 340,000, three times higher than during the same period in the previous year.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said that Poland could take in about 2,200 refugees over two years.
