WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Baltimore officials may announce the settlement later on Tuesday, the Washington Post reported citing sources who are privy to the agreement.
In May, a grand jury indicted six Baltimore police officers involved in the illegal arrest of Freddie Gray. The six officers now face charges on counts of assault, manslaughter, false imprisonment and misconduct in office.
Followings Gray’s death, riots erupted in Baltimore following protests against police brutality throughout the United States. The authorities declared a curfew in Baltimore and deployed the Maryland National Guard, as well as arrested more than 250 people.
